Things I Can and Cannot Do
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm a 10-year-old kid who goes to Oakwood Elementary School. Today I'm going to tell you all about the things I can do and the things I cannot do yet. Get ready, because this is going to be a super long list!
First up, let me tell you about all the things I can do. I'm really good at riding my bicycle. I've been riding bikes since I was just 5 years old and my parents got me a little bike with training wheels. Those came off pretty quickly though because I'm an awesome cyclist! I can do all sorts of cool tricks like bunny hops, endos, and manuals. My dream is to become a professional BMX rider one day.
I'm also really good at playing video games. My favorite games are Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and Minecraft. I've beaten all the levels in those games multiple times. My thumbs are lightning fast from all the button mashing I do! My parents have to pry the controller from my hands at bedtime. I always beg for \"just five more minutes pleeeease!\"
Speaking of games, I'm a total pro when it comes to board games and card games too. I'm the reigning champion of Candy
Land, Chutes and Ladders, Go Fish, and War in my household. My little sister gets so mad when I beat her, but she'll get better when she's older like me. I'm also pretty good at chess, even though it's kind of hard.
Art is another thing I can do really well. I love drawing characters from my favorite TV shows and coloring pictures from my coloring books. I've entered tons of drawings into my school's art shows and competitions and won lots of ribbons. My dream is to become a famous artist or cartoonist when I grow up!
I'm a bookworm too. I can read super fast and I love diving into magical fantasy worlds or going on adventures through the pages of a book. My favorite books are Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, The Chronicles of Narnia, and anything by Roald Dahl. I've read most of those series like five times already! My parents have to make me put my book down at night or I'd read all night long.
Let's see, what other things can I do... Oh yeah, I can sing and dance up a storm! I'm always putting on little performances for my family where I sing songs from movies like Encanto or dance to the latest pop songs. I take dance lessons once a week at a
studio downtown and I'm in my school's choir too. Maybe you'll see me on a big stage one day!
Okay, now let me tell you about the things I cannot do. There's a much shorter list here! First of all, I cannot swim. My parents have tried to teach me, but for some reason I just cannot get the hang of it. I sink like a rock as soon as I go in the deep end! We're going to try again with swimming lessons this summer though.
I also cannot speak any other languages besides English. Well, I know like two words of Spanish - hola and adios. But that's about it! All the other kids in my class are taking Spanish lessons but I just cannot wrap my brain around a new language yet. Maybe it'll click for me when I'm older.
Another thing I cannot do is tell really good jokes. I'm just not a very funny person! Whenever I try to tell a joke or be silly, I just end up confusing people or they don't think it's funny at all. I'm hoping my sense of humor gets better when I'm a teenager. Comedy is hard!
Let's see, what else can't I do... Oh yeah, I cannot bake or cook anything fancier than a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or basic things like that. Whenever I try to help my mom bake cookies or a cake, I mess it up. I always get distracted and forget
an ingredient or two. Baking is like, an exact science, you know? I'm just not scientifically inclined I guess!
I cannot do a lot of math either, beyond basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The second my teacher starts talking about algebra, fractions, decimals, and all those complicated things, my brain just stops working. Numbers are not my strong suit, that's for sure!
Hmm, I think that's it for the things I cannot do. As you can see, the \"can do\" list is way longer than the \"cannot do\" list! I'm just an all-around talented kid, what can I say? Don't worry though, I'm sure I'll get better at all those things I can't do yet, like swimming, speaking Spanish, baking, and super hard math stuff. Maybe when I'm a grown-up I'll be able to do everything! Anyway, that's all I've got for you today. I've got to go ride my bike over to my friend's house and show him this new video game I got. Then we're going to play some classic board games that I'll probably beat him at, as usual! Catch you later!
